Seeking Business and Economics Blogger
Nightly Business Report is looking for an economics and business blogger with the following qualifications below:
Do you have a passion for the economy? Do you always find yourself trying to convince others why economics and finance matter? And, do you know how to write about the economy in a way that engages readers who don’t have Ph.D.s? If you answered “Yes” to all these questions and you have substantial business journalism and/or academic experience, Nightly Business Report on PBS (NBR) wants to talk to you.
NBR is preparing to launch a “How the Economy Works” blog, and we’re looking for a writer to helm it. This is a grant-funded, freelance position that will last approximately 10 months. You’ll be paid per blog and will be required to write at least two blogs per week (except during weeks with major holidays) and to actively respond to readers who comment on your blog. Location doesn’t matter. You can work from the city you currently live in.We want someone smart, creative, and responsible. Your entries must be relevant to the current economic environment and also stand the test of time – since the “How the Economy Works” section of the NBR website will remain active indefinitely as a resource for the public.
If you have experience working with blog content management systems like WordPress or Movable Type, that’s a plus – but it’s your writing quality and style that must impress us
How to apply: If you think this might be the freelance job for you, send your resume along with two (2) to three (3) writing samples to Jaime Danielson (jaime_danielson@nbr.com). Be sure to put “How the Economy Works Blogger” in the subject line of your email.
PLEASE NOTE: If you don’t have at least 10 years experience working in journalism, academia, or a field relevant to the subject of our blog, then don’t respond to this job ad.
