LAGUNA BEACH, CA (MMD Newswire) April 5, 2012 — Wells of Life, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing East African villages with clean, safe, and accessible water sources has been adopted by the Rose of Tralee committee. Nick Jordan, co-founder and President of Wells of Life, had the opportunity of speaking at the Rose of Tralee’s St. Patrick’s Day Grand Ball at the Atrium Hotel in Irvine, California with the result of nearly $17K given in donations. The beautiful young ladies – the Rose’s – have taken it upon themselves to aid in helping Wells of Life reach the goal of solving the water dilemma in East Africa. Congratulations to the 2012 Southern California Rose of Tralee – Erin Kelley.
According to the United Nations, a child dies from waterborne diseases every 15 seconds. The collaborative effort between Wells of Life and The Rose of Tralee and other contributing corporations and individuals is helping to change this statistic. “Providing clean water is at the very heart of providing hope. No child should have to die for lack of water. I believe we must stand up to make sure clean water is available to all people on Earth.” says Wells of Life President, Nick Jordan.

About The Rose of Tralee
The Rose of Tralee program is a presentation of young women of Irish ancestry or birth. The pageant is not based on beauty, but on character and celebration of the Irish spirit which exists all over the world. “The Rose of Tralee” is based on the love song of the same name by William Mulchnick. Mulchnick was a wealthy 19th century land owner who fell in love with Mary O’Connor, his maid. Because of their differences in social class, their love was discouraged by his family and sent him off to India. This beautiful poem was later put to music.
