Tax Bloggers Wanted

Upcoming Tax Blog is looking for a Wanted: Tax Bloggers to Work with Copyblogger Editor

Hey, Jon Morrow from Copyblogger here.

I have a consulting client who is one of the biggest tax experts in the United States. She’s hired me to help her build a personal finance blog that’s exclusively about taxes. It’ll offer tax saving tips, expert opinions about how tax planning should fit into your investment strategy, and advice for what to do when you get in trouble with the IRS.

My client will be writing some articles herself, but we’d also like to round out the editorial by hiring three additional tax bloggers. We’ll ask each blogger to write one high-quality article per week, most likely in the 750-1000 word range.

These are PAID positions. We haven’t worked out all of the details yet, but I’d guess we’ll be paying quite a bit more than the pitiful rates most bloggers make, probably in a pay per post model. In some cases, we might also consider a byline with a link back to your own tax planning service or company, allowing you to attract customers from the articles you write.

As a side benefit, I’ve also been hired to help launch the blog. Normally, I work exclusively with the writers at Copyblogger, but during the launch process for this blog, I’ve agreed to step in and plan topics, edit posts, and map out traffic strategies. I’m not sure how long I’ll do it, but at least for a little while, you’ll get the chance to work directly with me.

If you’re interested in the position, here’s what I need you to do:

1. Send me examples of blog posts or articles you’ve written. You’re welcome to send me a link, if the article or post it online. Otherwise, please send all examples in Microsoft Word or PDF format.

2. Tell me about your expertise. Tax advice is such a sensitive topic that we’ll need all of our writers to have credentials. For instance, if you’re a CPA, tell me how long you’ve been in business, what type of work you specialize in, and so on. I don’t need to see a full resume. I just need to know why you’re qualified to offer tax advice.

3. If you have a blog, please send me a link to it, even if it has nothing to do with taxes. It’ll help me gauge your writing ability.

In general, I’ll only be hiring proven tax experts with far above average writing skills for these positions. If you’ve never written a blog post or article before, or you’ve only been a bookkeeper for six weeks, then this probably isn’t the job for you. The goal here is to create the foremost tax blog in the world, and to do that, we’ll need the writers who can offer sound but also captivating advice that people will want to read day after day for years to come.

If you believe that’s you, then please send all of the above information to JonMorrowJobs@Gmail.com. I look forward to hearing from you, and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
