AT&T Tech Channel seeks an on-air talent to serve both anchor and field reporter.
The successful candidate will have a combination of the following:
* Demonstrable on-air experience, both in-studio (on prompter) and ENG. Please include a link to your reel in your response.
* Strong writing skills. You’ll be required to research and write some of your stories, in addition to on-air work. Writing samples are encouraged.
* Candidates with a knowledge of and experience with the tech community will have a HUGE advantage. If you read digg and slashdot every day, know the difference between wordpress and blogger, can give a coherent definition of Web 2.0 (and know why that’s a trick question in the first place), and can explain the difference between HDMI and DVI without looking it up, you’re in a great position. We’ll take a lust for tech over on-air polish. If you don’t know any of this stuff, be a quick and willing learner.
* Willingness to do the small things: The job is writing and performing on air. However, with our team, there may be times you’ll have to run tape or prompter, or some other production-related task. If you can’t do that with a smile, you probably shouldn’t apply.
* Experience performing on broadband video is a plus, but not required. This mostly means you can write short copy. The position is located in Somerset County, NJ, in ZIP code 07921. Anyone from Brooklyn or Queens or anywhere in New York State that isn’t Manhattan will face a commute that is, for lack of a better term, unappealing. Either be willing to (eventually) move or the best tech reporter ever if you’re from Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx or Westchester. There is no reliable mass transit to our studio.
Please reply with a resume, cover letter, a link to a reel and headshot, writing samples, salary requirements (be honest!) and a succinct list of your favorite gadgets (and why you love them). If you want to find an important tech story and write up a 30-second script, we’ll probably be OK with that, too.
